COSTA RICA ADVENTURE TOURS

Discover incredible rainforests, volcanoes, beaches and wildlife of the exotic “Rich Coast”!

Travel throughout Costa Rica from the Pacific to the Caribbean coast discovering primary tropical rainforests, volcanic landscapes, coral reefs, national parks, and plenty of exotic wildlife.

Stay in some of the best eco-lodges in the country as you explore and experience the natural wonders in the jewel of Central America.

Day 1

Say goodbye to your volunteer project and return to the city of Heredia. After the ISV Adventure Tour Orientation, which will take place in the afternoon, relax and explore the city!

Day 2

Get ready for high-adrenaline whitewater rafting on the Pacuare River, Class III and IV rapids (ISV Included Activity)! Along the river, we will stop to swim in secluded, natural swimming holes. Later, stay overnight in the incredible Rios Tropicales Jungle Lodge and experience a traditional Costa Rican meal prepared by the local river guides.

Day 3

Awake to peaceful sounds of the local rushing river. Early risers can enjoy some phenomenal bird-watching and then get ready for the greatest waterfall hike (ISV Included Activity). Relax in the evening and enjoy the tranquility of the river.

Day 4

Start the day with a hearty breakfast then prepare for more exhilaration while whitewater rafting! This afternoon, we will travel southeast to the heart of the Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge.

For two exotic nights, you will stay in a unique environmentally-friendly lodge while enjoying the Caribbean Sea, golden sand, coconuts in a reggae-vibe of paradise!

Day 5

Experience the rainforest and awaken to howler monkeys calling! Today’s eco-adventure will involve a gentle interpretive nature walk into Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge and a free afternoon of relaxing.

Day 6

Travel to Volcan Arenal near the small town of La Fortuna.

Volcan Arenal is the most active volcano in all of Costa Rica. In the evening, relax in natural thermal springs and watch for nature’s fireworks.

Day 7

Discover Arenal Mundo Aventura, an ecological adventure park like no other in Costa Rica! Enjoy the exceptional zip-lines and learn about the indigenous “Maleku” culture through a visit to their mystical village.

Test your courage on the largest rappel in Costa Rica!

Free-rappel 30 m (98 ft) down followed by a 50 m (165 ft) descent down the Pino Blanco waterfall.

Day 8

Travel to the beautiful Rincón de la Vieja National Park and learn about a volcano composed of nine craters.

Stay for two nights at the foot of the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano in one of the best Costa Rican eco lodges for adventure travel and nature lovers. Upon arrival, explore the geothermal wonders of the park with a 2-hour hike along the Las Pailas Trail.

Here you can observe steam vents, boiling mud and water and diverse vegetation. Afterwards, soak tired muscles in volcanic thermal waters in a natural setting at the Rio Negro Hot Springs.

Day 9

You will start with a horseback ride through dry forest and scenic trails until we stop at Oropendola Waterfall, a 25 m (82 ft) waterfall with emerald-green water. After this, get ready for the Rio Negro Tubing Adventure for 1.5 hours of riding rapids in your own inflatable inner tube.

After lunch, relax and finish this fantastic day at the unique Simbiosis Mud Spa.

Day 10

Rise early and help feed horses and milk the cows at the local farmhouse. Later, travel to the breathtaking Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.

Delight yourself at Samara Beach, a long, beautiful beach and ideal place for ocean kayaking, swimming and water sports.

Day 11

You will sea kayak to Isla Chora where fish, rays and marine turtles can be found in the surroundings waters. In addition, today you will enjoy two hours of surf lessons on this beautiful beach.

Day 12

Today is a free day in Samara to explore and enjoy the picturesque beach and local town.

It is a perfect day to relax on the beach and take in the magnificent sunset.

Day 13

After breakfast, you will return to the Central Valley, stopping on the way at the El Jardn Restaurant and Souvenir shop to look for well-made Costa Rican souvenirs, particularly woodcraft, jewelry and masks.

Enjoy a farewell dinner during the final night with the group.

Day 14

The adventure ends…travel home and ¡Hasta Pronto!

Some tours may run consecutively so the order of the destinations will be reversed. If this is the case for your adventure tour you will be notified in advance of your arrival to Dominican Republic.

Sea Kayaking in Samara Beach

Enjoy a leisurely paddle by kayak from Samara Beach to nearby Isla Chora. This small, scenic island invites you to leave your kayaks on the beach, relax, play Frisbee or swim in beautiful clear waters.

Horseback Riding & Tubing Adventure in Rincón de la Vieja National Park

Explore Rincón de la Vieja National Park with two great activities! Start with a relaxed horseback ride along forested scenic trails, stopping at the beautiful Oropendola Waterfall. Then, ride the rapids in an inner-tube as part of the Rio Negro Tubing Adventure!

Arenal Volcano Evening Hot Springs

Soothe and soak sore muscles as you relax in natural hot springs at night. The thermal pools range in temperature and are surrounded by beautiful vegetation. With luck, you will see the magnificent Arenal Volcano in the distance!

Rappel at Arenal Adventure World Ecological Park

 Get ready for a natural high as you rappel down a rushing waterfall! Descend 27 m (90 ft) on a free rappel followed by another 46 m (150 ft) down the Pino Blanco waterfall. You will experience the largest rappel in Costa Rica!
